General Council

The Ramblers is a company limited by guarantee, and General Council is the body of people who are defined as company members for Companies Act and other legal purposes. Members of General Council are entitled to attend the annual general meeting, but remain company members at other times.
Our annual general meeting is commonly referred to as General Council.

General Council Conference: 6 December 2025
The General Council Conference will take place on Saturday 6 December from 11am (refreshments and networking from 10.30am) to 4pm.
The venue: Senate House, University of London, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU.
The purpose of the conference is for Council members to work together in person to explore outstanding issues of concern, with the aim of reaching consensus on a final package of governance reforms which could be put to General Council for its consideration and decision at the Annual General Meeting on 25 April 2026.
Registration: All Council members are invited to attend the conference. Online registration has now closed but any member who still wishes to attend should contact Simon Kellas (simon.kellas@ramblers.org.uk).
Venue and session plan: Further information about the venue (including maps) and the session plan for the day is available below.
Accommodation: Members who requested accommodation have been sent confirmation under separate cover.
Expenses: Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. Please use the expense form below.
