General Council
The Ramblers is a company limited by guarantee, and General Council is the body of people who are defined as company members for Companies Act and other legal purposes. Members of General Council are entitled to attend the annual general meeting, but remain company members at other times.
Our annual general meeting is commonly referred to as General Council.
General Council AGM 2025
The 2025 General Council AGM will take place on Saturday 5 April at the Birmingham NEC.
The Board of Trustees has retained the previous year’s format and venue for 2025, and the AGM will remain open only to Council members. The meeting will start at 10.30am and will finish by 5pm.
Information, documents and deadlines for the AGM can be found on this webpage which will be updated regularly over the next couple of months.
AGM registration
All Council members are requested to complete the online registration form by 3 March.
Registration ensures that the meeting notice, papers and proxy form are sent to the right people at the right addresses.
The meeting notice and papers will be published on this webpage on 7 March and sent to individual Council members.
Venue
The AGM will take place in the Concourse Suite which is in the Atrium (east) side of the NEC, next to halls 8, 9 and 10. The Concourse Suite is a 10 minute walk from Birmingham International station through the NEC via the Skywalk.
Free car parking will be provided. The NEC will confirm the exact location closer to the day of the meeting and this will be shared on this webpage.
Detailed venue maps can be downloaded from https://thenec.co.uk/downloads
Accommodation
We do hope many members will be able to travel to the meeting and back on the same day, but recognise this is not possible for everyone. In order to minimise costs, we ask that you only request accommodation (which will be close to the venue) if it is absolutely needed. Information about the accommodation will be confirmed directly with individual attendees in February.
