We are a small, friendly group, walking every Sunday (occasionally on a Saturday) on our beautiful Northumberland coast and in the Cheviot hills. Our walks vary in length from 6 to 12 miles, but are usually in the moderate range. We are careful to keep a pace that suits our walkers on the day - we mostly have experience, but are happy to welcome people new to walking and you are warmly encouraged to come along and give us a try before joining the Ramblers.
Sometimes the walk ends conveniently at a cafe for tea, cake and camaraderie. Other social events are a Christmas meal and an Autumn walking holiday further afield.
To join a walk please contact the walk leader by the day before the walk. There is an optional car share that meets, usually, at 9.30 at Wallace Green in the centre of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Or you can join us at the start of the walk. It’s important to let the walk leader know the day before, so that you come prepared and so that we don’t leave without you! Walking is a simple pleasure that should be open to everyone, so we campaign to remove barriers to walking and we protect the places we love to wander.
