This is a moderate walk of 11 miles or 9 miles including an optional one mile blue plaque trail around the old town of Llantwit Major.
It combines gently rolling cliff top and inland paths, 1.5 mile beach and Lias Limestone wave cut platform walk (an uneven surface). We stop briefly at a number of historic sites, Dunraven Castle, Nash Point Lighthouse finishing at the ancient centre of Celtic Christian learning Llantwit Major where we take a half hour or so to visit the Galilee Chapel historic centre and church, with the blue plaque trial following on afterwards.
Sorry No dogs.
This is a full day away from Pembrokeshire and involves approximately 2 hours travel each way. Potentially there are up to 4 ice cream stops. Please bring water, drink for a packed lunch and a packed lunch. For your evening meal there are a variety of restaurants, pubs and take aways on your way back to the M4.
The economics of coach hire and the limited all day parking at our final destination means that we will be car sharing. Please arrive at Pemblewyn Roundabout off the old A40 on time.
Please confirm your attendance on this walk by email or text to the leader by midnight on Wednesday 23 April 2025 stating whether you are doing 9 or 11 mile ramble and whether you can drive your car to the end of the walk or not.(Please note that drivers will only be able to do the 9 mile ramble because they will be involved in shuffling the cars to maximise the number of cars at the finish of the walk)
Please contact the leader for more information.
