Overview

Stag Walkers are delighted to invite you to our Annual Get-Together of Members (AGM) on Sunday, 3rd November at 11am.

This is an opportunity for members to catch up on what we’ve been doing in the previous year, give feedback on your experience in the group, thank the volunteers who make all our activities possible and elect the organising committee that will steer Stag Walkers through the year to come.

This year we’ll meet in Stevenage Old Town at Cinnabar - the sister venue to the Hitchin location where we held our 2023 AGM.

Following the official business we can have lunch at Cinnabar. If you wish to stay for lunch please book your place using the separate Meetup event page.

After lunch there’ll be the option of a short walk into the countryside west of Stevenage. Please see the separate walk event page for details in due course.

We hope you can join us and show your support at this important event in the Stag Walkers calendar!

Where is it?

Cinnabar, 56-58 High St, Old Town, Stevenage SG1 3EF.

Our meeting will take place in the upstairs function room at 11am. Please arrive from 10.30 to order drinks and take a seat.

Recommended parking nearby at Primett Road North Car Park, Primett Road, Stevenage, Herts SG1 3EH. Parking costs up to £3.50 for 5 hours or more.

If using public transport, buses stop moments away by The Mulberry Tree pub. Stevenage railway station & bus interchange is about 20 minutes’ walk.

What's happening?

Like all Ramblers groups, Stag Walkers is organised by an enthusiastic committee of volunteer members. At the AGM, the team will give a brief report of our activities in the previous year and there'll be time for questions and discussion. Then the current office holders will stand down from their roles and the group will elect a new committee.

Would YOU like to join the team?

The committee roles are:

• Group Chair
• Group Vice-Chair
• Group Secretary

• Group Treasurer

• Group Membership Secretary

• Walks Programme Coordinator (2 roles)

• Group Publicity Officer & Social Media Officer
• Group Webmaster

• Group Newsletter Editor

• Group Social Secretary

• Area Representative

Some committee members will stand for re-election but new volunteers are welcome to stand for any committee position. We encourage all our members to consider putting themselves forward for any role.

Due to some current officers not re-standing, we are especially keen to hear from members interested in the roles of Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Webmaster and Newsletter Editor. We are also looking to recruit for the new role of Vice-Chair.

Most roles can be carried out by a team of two or more people rather than an individual, if you would like to get involved but not go it alone.

Why join the committee?

Each committee member plays an important part in running Stag Walkers. Joining the team gives you the chance to give something back to your group, have your say in what the group does, gain new skills and experience, add a volunteer role to your CV and help promote the Ramblers.

If you’re interested in standing for a role or would like to know more, please get in touch via email or chat to the current committee on a walk. Volunteering is interesting, fun and rewarding; so why not join the team?

Note: anyone can attend the AGM, but only paid-up Ramblers members with Stag Walkers as home group are allowed to vote and run for election. To join Ramblers as a Stag Walkers member, or change your home group to Stag Walkers, see our website.

If you can't attend the AGM but would like to give feedback or volunteer please email us. We invite all our members to get involved and hope to see you on 3rd November!
