Overview

We organise on Meetup, please sign up at the web-link below to let us know you are coming.

This is an informal social event where we will:-
* look at our walks calendar and try to fill in any forthcoming blanks with the names of walk leaders;
* offer various types of support to our walk leaders - these are listed below;
* encourage Ramblers members who haven't yet led a walk to do so, by showing them how easy it is, with the help of maps and mapping websites. And to help sell it to you:- have you ever seen details of a forthcoming walk, and wished that it could be on a different day, of a different length, at a different location or with a different start time? Well, as a walk leader, you will be able to dictate all of these details!
* enjoy an informal social event in the pub! Ramblers members who have no intention of ever leading a walk are very welcome, as are non-members who have been to one or two walks (but if you've already been to three or more, it might be time for you to join the Ramblers...) (Reminder to Ramblers members: please put your membership number in your "Group Bio")

This event will offer these types of support to both existing and prospective walk leaders:-
* the exchange of ideas for locations and routes for walks. There will be paper maps to look at, and at least one laptop on which we will be able to plot routes and measure distances, check train and bus times, look for car parking, etc.
* if you would like to recce a route, but not by yourself, you might find a "recce buddy" to join you; that person, or someone else, might also be willing to co-lead the walk with you on the day;
* if you're looking at a route which can't be reached by public transport, you might find drivers in the pub who are willing to attend your walk and transport others.

Finally, if our "Trips Away" Coordinator is in attendance, you may be able to offer ideas for, or help with the planning of, even more ambitious adventures...
