Walking in Badenoch and Strathspey
Welcome to the Badenoch and Strathspey group. We cover the Monadhliath and the high tops of the Cairngorms, the birch and pine woodlands of the Spey Valley from Laggan to beyond Grantown on Spey, beautiful Glen Feshie, and Glen Banchor and much more besides.
With such a wide variety of landscape and terrain on our doorstep, offering an almost endless choice of walks from short low level riverside strolls to long high-level mountain days, we do not usually need to travel long distances or hire buses (though we do share cars to minimise pollution when allowable). Occasionally we travel further afield, to the coast in winter or to an iconic mountain in summer.
We walk every other weekend, usually on a Saturday, and a typical programme will offer a walk to suit most levels of fitness, experience and enthusiasm.
Get involved
Our walks take place in the stunning scenery of the Cairngorms National Park and our group is friendly and welcoming, not just to existing members, but new members and those visiting from other Ramblers groups and areas.
We have training days for walk leaders, first aiders and in navigation – skills that benefit not just the group, but the individual taking part in those training days. We also have a mentoring system in place to help members become walk leaders if that is something you would like to do.
Walking with the Badenoch and Strathspey Ramblers is a great way to get fit whilst learning about the local area, meeting people and making new friends.
