Walking in Lochaber, Lorn and beyond
We are a warm and friendly group that welcomes all new walkers, visitors and guests. Lochaber and Lorn Ramblers offer some of the best walking opportunities in the whole of the British Isles with Ben Nevis, Glen Coe, and many beautiful Lochs and Glens and historic locations.
Our area encompasses a section of the western Highlands from Invergarry in the north to Loch Awe in the south, and from Glen Orchy in the east to the western coast, including the isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna.
Our walking community
Our walks cover all levels from leisurely rambles in glens and woodlands to climbing Munros in winter conditions. Walks can include scrambles along the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe to walks along the Great Glen Way, West Highland Way and the Caledonian Canal.
Local ferries provide easy access to Ardgour and the islands. Interesting days out combine a cruise along Loch Shiel or walk along the banks of Loch Morar. Another is a walk at Glen Stockdale, in Appin, with a chance to visit some of the deepest caves in Scotland
Some walks include archaeological sites such as standing stones, hill forts, clan fortresses, such as Castle Tioram in Moidart, and 19th Century Clearance villages.
We hope you’ll join us on a walk soon.
