Walking in Southport and beyond
Our group is part of the Merseyside and West Cheshire Area. Southport Ramblers welcome all age groups from 8 to 80+. Our walks are usually on Sundays, and we travel by coach that picks up from various points across the Southport area between Formby and Crossens. Check out our photos on YouTube or visit Southport Ramblers on Facebook.
We aim to go out every two weeks. Our walks can be in any of the following areas: Lancashire; Cheshire; North Wales; Cumbria; Lake District; Yorkshire; Peak District; Staffordshire, and others.
Travelling by coach is not only more environmentally friendly but we also avoid the problem of finding (and paying for) sufficient car parking places and avoid the prospect of having to drive home.
Following the walks, we always allow time for well-deserved refreshments, be that tea/coffee and cake or a pint from the local pub, departure for home (normally 5pm in Winter and 6pm in Summer) is adjusted on the day to suit the needs of our walkers.
Our walking community
Our group walks allow you to meet like-minded people, make new friends and experience new adventures!
We offer the opportunity to walk amongst a variety of different places and explore the countryside that is available to us, whilst feeling confident in the knowledge that you are in the safe hands of our leaders. All this without the need to use your car. So sit back, relax and let our coach take the strain!
All our walks are free of charge but there is a fee for the coach. There are normally 3 walks you can choose from (A- strenuous, B- moderate and C- easy.) These are led by experienced leaders.
The details of each walk for that day is circulated on the coach, giving a description of the terrain, length of walk and showing the route on a map. For all our walks walking/hiking boots must be worn. You need to bring food, drink and wet weather clothing. Walkers should bring a change of footwear and a bag to put your dirty boots in.
