An 11 mile circular walk from Colden Common, heading up to Owslebury through paddocks and along woodland tracks. The autumn colours were glowing golden on the pre-walk. We go through 5 kissing gates on this section which have been installed by Winchester Ramblers - and a further two near the end of the walk. After a coffee stop in Owslebury the route takes us across Hazeley Down with beautiful views across the Itchen valley before descending to Twyford for a lunch stop at the church. The afternoon's walk is across the water meadows to the Itchen at Shawford and then south along the navigation towards Colden Common, with a diversion away from the water where the bank is flooded. There is some road walking on this section.
There are muddy sections on this walk, you may find poles helpful.
This is a picnic walk, please bring drinks and snacks for two short stops.
Kindly let the leader know if you are planning to join this walk.
