Overview

Leaving the Overton Hill car park, we head north-east over the young River Test to join the Wayfarer's Way at Frith Wood. We then turn north-west to the hamlet of North Oakley. A gentle climb leads to some fine views looking south over Hampshire, before we head back through a mixture of parkland, woodland, farmland and lakes of the Tidgrove estate.

Then follows a gentle descent along a quiet lane before we join the Harrow Way and another path into Overton.

Bring supplies for a coffee break and a picnic lunch - no seating on this walk, I'm afraid.

This route is mainly on wide paths and quiet roads. The slopes are quite gentle and when I did the pre-walk it was not muddy.

On the Harrow Way there is a slippery path of exposed chalk. Poles may be useful.

Please contact the leader in advance if you'd like to join this walk as we may leave early if all expected people have arrived.

The Overton Hill free car park on London Road. From the crossroads in the centre of Overton go up London Road about 200m and the car park is on the left. Look carefully because the sign is obscured by trees. (Note, it's NOT the London Road car park on the right).
