Overview

The walk starts at Abbotsford House car park, near Melrose, TD6 9BQ (£2 all day charge).  This was the home of Sir Walter Scott.  We will follow the Borders Abbeys Way then the Southern Upland Way along the River Tweed to Melrose then circle back to follow the line of the old railway past Darnick village back to Abbotsford.

Mixture of path surfaces, some minor road walking and some steps with rails.  Some inclines but nothing steep.  Ascent approx 150m. Possible coffee at the Abbotsford House Visitor Centre at the end of the walk.  Estimated finish 2pm.
