Walkers must book in advance with the walk leader
A walk near Kilsyth full of historic interest. Starting with a canal and visiting the site of an Iron Age Fort and a Roman Fort.
From the marina, cross the canal and walk east along the tow path to the next bridge. Follow good hill paths west to Croy Hill (site of Roman Fort), continue west to trig point on Castle Hill (site of Iron Age Fort) and descend to Roman Fort near Bar Hill. Cross the canal at Twechar and return along tow path.
Local Grade: C+
Terrain: Gravel tow paths, good grass hill paths, open grass meadows and farm lanes. The walk includes a couple of relatively short but steep ascents.
