Starting at the Dare Valley Country Park visitor centre, we climb approximately 1 mile to the top of The Daren for views over the Park and Cynon Valley. We retrace our steps, to follow the Dare River to Tarren y Bwllfa viewpoint, where we stop for morning tea. We then head to Aberdare Park via Cwmdare, to see birds, bears, boats, trees, monuments and a stone circle. After lunch we head towards the Library, then make our way back to the Country Park, circling the lake before returning to the car park
The walk is dog-friendly. However, dogs must be kept on a lead in Aberdare Park. There are many birds and squirrels in the Park, which can be a distraction for some dogs. The Country Park cafe is dog-friendly, with indoor and outdoor seating.
Note: Much of the walk is Easy, but the track to the Daren can be slippery and rutted, particularly following heavy rain. A walking pole is recommended.
