Overview

This is the classic circuit of the Forest, using critical links to join up the various sections.   From Box car park we will head towards Camp Hill, with a slight diversion in the hope of getting views to the Downs, and then make our way to Gills Lap.  There is then a descent to Newbridge before a climb up the other side of Kidd’s Hill towards the Broadstone area of the Forest and the Forest Centre (lunch).  The route then goes through the grounds of the Ashdown Park Hotel before a brief exploration north of Chelwood Gate, and then the Millbrook area of the Forest before climbing up to Friend Clump before returning to the car park.
This is a fairly hilly route and there will almost certainly be some wet and muddy stretches, interspersed with some good walking.
