Overview

Walk starts along the low hills of the Medway Valley aiming to the Hartfield village. The trail then heads to the Five Hundred Acre Woods passing through Pooh’s house and Pooh Sticks Bridge. It then continues onto the small village of Withyham through the extensive Buckhurst Estate. And an easy final stretch along the Medway valley, back to Ashurst station.

Walk is mostly on fields and through woodland and not much option to break at halfway point. Will be stopping for a 30-40 min break at Hartfield village, which will be about 4 miles from the start. Second stretch is about 5-6 miles through fields and forest. Bring snacks for this stretch of the walk. Once the walk gets to Withyham village, will be stopping for a quick 10-15 min break.

It's a moderate walk aimed at the pace of 2-3 miles per hour. Must have waterproof hiking boots. Mud is inevitable!

Bring snacks and packed lunch.

FAO experienced walkers attending: please leave the management of the walk to the leader and do not take other walkers away in your own group. Also, it is a moderate walk which will be done at the pace described above.

Travel: Catch 10:07 from London Bridge (10:22 East Croydon), arr. Ashurst at 10:57.
