This linear walk is part of the Mull of Galloway Trail.
This is the second stage of the Mull of Galloway Trail and is a walk of two halves. From Ardwell to the village of Sandhead as far as Clayshant, the walk follows the pleasant coastline. The walk then turns inland along minor roads before a final cross-country stretch to reach Stranraer. The paths could be muddy, particularly through the fields and wooded areas. Some short steep up and down along the coastal section with some stony beach walking if the tide allows. Stout walking shoes/boots and poles are recommended. Drink and snacks for at least 3 stops. Return by bus to cars at Ardwell.
Note: The walk will not be pre-recced as it is part of a recognised national trail, dynamic risk assessment will be undertaken on the day and the walk may be subject to diversion from the signposted trail if considered necessary.
This walk is part of our Away Weekend Event, and is fully subscribed by the Event attendees.
Linear walk, grade B+, a mix of leisurely & more strenuous sections., over a substantial distance. Hiking boots and poles are recommended.
