A nice local walk for us this week starting atop of Barr Beacon with superb views of the great metrolopis to the south, before we take the pretty way towards Walsall and her arboretum.
You're welcome to join us too of course. If this is your first time with Chase & District it'd be great if you could call, text, or email beforehand so that we can l👀k out for you. Same goes if you're running a bit late or something.
The walk itself features field footpaths, woodland paths and canal towpath with a little road/pavement walking thrown in. Just one stile believe it or not.
Registration: 09.45. Walk start: 10.00.
As usual we'll find a pub afterwards. Well I never! 😂😂
Directions: (primarily for our own members but applicable if you're arriving from the north).
The start is located a couple of miles due south of Aldridge, West Midlands.
From Cannock, Burntwood, & Hednesford: Via the A5 to the A452 Chester Road at Brownhills and follow through Brownhills High Street to Shire Oak lights where the A452 and A461 intersect. Continue over the lights, still A452.
From Rugeley & Lichfield: Take the A461 out of Lichfield, direction Walsall, to cross the A5 at Muckley Corner and proceed for 2 miles, A461, to Shire Oak lights where turn left onto the A452 Chester Road.
Once on the A452 follow the course of the road for 4.2 miles to the first set of lights at The Hardwick Arms where straight on. At the next lights 0.25 mile later turn right onto Foley Road West, B4151, signed Barr Beacon. After 0.8 mile at The Foley Arms island continue straight over, still B4151 direction Walsall, for a further 0.3 mile to then turn left at the lights onto Beacon Road, B4154, signed initially for Perry Barr and later Barr Beacon.
After 300 yards on the B4154 turn left into the North Car Park approach road, (⚠️height restriction), around the hairpin bend, up and into the parking area on your right.
