Overview

On this straightforward and well waymarked hill-walk, we will stay on good forestry tracks as they circle the hill to the summit. We will pass through wooded areas, but extensive clear-felling allows for excellent views in clear weather. The climb is constant, mostly fairly gentle but with three steeper sections including the last pull to the top. A gentle pace should allow everyone to enjoy the ascent. Lunch at the top will hopefully allow us a 360 degree views with Loch Venachar at our feet and Loch Achray, Loch Lubnaig, Ben Ledi, Ben Venue and Ben A'an in the near distance. Please note, our track will lead us through West Carchonzie organic cattle farm, and we are likely to meet some cows along the way. We can also expect some 'muddy' sections! Local Grade B.

Coming from Deanston on the B8032, you will briefly join the B822 before turning left at the junction onto the A81. Continue on the A81 for 1 mile, ignoring the first forestry track on the right and carrying on to the second. There are a few parking spaces at the entrance to this forestry track. This is the starting point of the walk. If all spaces are taken, there is more parking 300yds further on near the entrance to a third track off to the right. If parking there, please take care walking back along the verge to the start point.
