A circular walk starting from Benfleet station climbing up to Hadleigh Country Park and the ruined Hadleigh Castle to enjoy the views then onto Leigh-on-Sea for lunch. Returning from Leigh-on-Sea along a flat path beside the Thames estuary. In the morning some paths are narrow, rather overgrown and may be muddy. There are a few stiles in the morning.
Potential late morning coffee and toilet break. Cafe or picnic lunch in Leigh-on-Sea with time to explore old Leigh and visit the Heritage Centre for those having a picnic. Possible stop for a drink at Barge Gladys on the return to Benfleet (bar is cash only).
Option to drop out at Leigh-on-Sea station (approx 5.5 miles)
