Starting at Blackheath station, this walk takes us across the heath and into Greenwich, exploring local connections with authors and poets, such as Dickens and C.Day Lewis.
The walk is 4.9 miles long , entirely on surfaced paths and pavements (no mud!), includes stunning views from Greenwich park of the well known landmarks of the Observatory, Queens House, Wren's Greenwich Hospital, O2 etc. There are cafes and toilets in the park and we will have a stop there. It is possible to shorten the walk by taking a bus from Greenwich cinema back to Blackheath for any weary walkers who wish to avoid climbing the hill on the way back.
I have taken the walk from a book called" Walking Literary London" , but you don't need to be interested in literature to enjoy a stroll around Greenwich park!
meeting point will be outside Gails cafe opposite Blackheath station.
Blackheath station does have a car park ,access is via Hurren Close, charges apply and it may be busy. There is on street parking outside the village (Liskeard gardens, Kidbrooke gardens area) but in the village itself lots of restrictions.
