We are the Hike on Lancashire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Linear walk from Blackrod to Wigan following the Greater Manchester Ringway. We will take the 10:15 bus from Wigan bus station to Blackrod getting off by Blackrod Methodist Church. We then will walk to Worthington Lakes where we will have a lunch stop overlooking the reservoir. From there we will join the Leeds - Liverpool canal and walk to Haigh Hall where we will have a brew stop at the Stables where teas, coffees and cakes can be purchased. We will then walk through Haigh Plantations and then follow the River Douglas into Wigan town centre for post walk refreshments.
As we are catching the bus at the start of the walk, please try to be on time as we will not be able to wait. Anyone wanting to join us at Blackrod, please meet us at Blackrod Methodist Church on New Street at around 10:40. The best place to park in Wigan is Mona Street car park which is very close to the bus station. Parking is free on Sunday.
The walk is muddy in places so please wear appropriate boots. Sorry, no dogs on this walk.
