Starting at Forth Valley Royal Hospital we will walk round Larbert Loch before entering Larbert Woods and follow the old drove road towards Denovan, now farmland. We turn right alongside Pamphellgoat wood to reach the Blue Pool. From there we go to Tappoch Broch, one of the best preserved Lowland Brochs where we stop for lunch. After this it’s a short walk to Torwood Castle built in 1566.
Local grade C+
We go through farmland where there are cattle. Numerous tree roots on the tracks up to the Blue Pool. The ground is very uneven especially at the Broch and around the Castle. If there has been rain it will be muddy in places.
The Falkirk Explored App can be downloaded and this has information about the history surrounding the walk.
Anyone wishing a short walk could go round the loch, the woods and part of the drove road.
