This is a very pleasant short walk through some attractive countryside, much of the route through the Leighfield Estate. We start by heading south from the church, up Wood Lane and then passing through Hebe’s Wood. We then follow a good gravel track down to the Chater valley, where we turn eastwards on a bridleway to Leigh Lodge. We return to Braunston on a fine stretch of the Rutland Round, skirting the ancient woodland area of Prior’s Coppice.
*This is a relatively easy walk, with good tracks and paths throughout, and very few stiles. There are just a couple of uphill stretches.
*We should complete the circuit in around 2 hours (with a short refreshment stop) - with a prompt 6pm start.
*Dogs are welcome on this walk, provided they are on leads at all times.
*Refreshments are available at the Blue Ball at the end of the walk.
Please car share wherever possible in order to ease parking in Braunston
In the event of likely severe weather, please contact the leader on the day of the walk to check that it is still going ahead.
