Meetup at 9.15 in the free car park at Ashurst. The Forest is a special place and reveals its magic when you venture further in off the beaten track when the tourists have gone. Coming from Totton towards Lyndhurst along the A35 go down a side road on the left just before the bridge over the railway and go beyond the Happy Cheese to the car park. The 2 hour waiting restriction on nearby roads does not apply on Sundays. From there the party will walk through to the railway station, cross over the footbridge to get a single ticket for Brockenhurst £5.90 then back over the footbridge to catch the train at 9.40. Then it is 9.8 miles back through the wilder less traversed parts of the New Forest taking in Highland Water on the way to Emery Down. Passing to the north of Lyndhurst it is then through the moors and woods north of the A35 back to Ashurst. Walking boots and sticks recomended and bring a torch in case we are delayed. Bring all the refreshment and food you need there is nothing on the route. However the New Forest Inn serves Sunday Roast until 18.00 at the end.
