West Mendip Walkers moderate 9.5mile circular walk from Bruton (BA10 0EH). The walk starts from Station Road car park in Bruton which is opposite St Mary the Virgin Church. The walk passes Bruton Station and up the Brue river valley to South Brewham. It then proceeds in an east south east direction from Street Lane and Holland Farm to Kingsettle Hill below King Alfred’s Monument on the National Trust estate at Stourhead through woodlands to connect with Leland Trail and MacMillan Way westerly towards Redlynch. The route goes downhill to Durslade Farm, now known as Hauser & Wirth art gallery, restaurant/ farm shop and garden designed by Dutch landscaper Piet Oudolf and continues north west downhill passing King's Bruton school playing fields to Godminister Farm shop and car park. The walk encompasses open countryside with views from Stourhead escarpment (900 ft elevation). There are stiles, livestock and game birds requiring dogs to be on leashes.
