Overview

Starting and finishing in the market town of Buntingford this walk will mainly be on footpaths, tracks and bridleways with very little roadwork. We will meet in Bowling Green Lane car park where parking is free at the weekend, and there are public toilets.

We will head towards Aspenden via the footbridge over the A10 and pass Aspenden Hall, a grade 2 listed country house, and St Mary’s church.

We then head towards the Roman Road where we will take a short detour to see Button Snap, a 17th century cottage thought to be associated with the writer Charles Lamb and the plaque which sits in the ground next to the cottage.

We will then head towards Cottered where we cross the A507 towards the water tower at Throcking,  then back to Buntingford via another footpath and footbridge which crosses the A10.
