West Mendip Walkers moderate 10 mile circular walk from the NT car park at the foot of Burrow Mump (TA7 0RB). Paths, tracks, River Parratt Trail, Macmillan Way, Bridgwater to Taunton Canal and country lanes. The roofless church, St Michael’s, which stands on Burrow Mump was never completed. Royalist troops took refuge there in the Civil War and although it is only 24m high the views are magnificent. The hill was given to the National Trust in 1946 as a memorial to those locals who died in World War 2. The walk starts from the NT car park up Burrow Mump to the church, then towards the village of Burrowbridge. Follow River Parratt Trail northwards towards the Pumping Station until we reach The Thatchers Arms. Turn left to Fordgate, over the railway bridge and canal. The route then follows the Macmillan Way and a field path to the canal. Turn left along the canal towpath to reach the railway bridge again. We turn right onto a lane and drove followed by another lane and Long Drove path back to the start.
