A 9.5 mile walk from Groby to Rothley through Bradgate Park and Swithland Woods and under the Great Central Railway.
Meet at St Margaret’s Bus Station at 9:10 to catch 9:20 no 29 Arriva Bus to Stamford Arms Groby .( Coalville bus)
Walk will start from Stamford Arms at 9:45
Morning Coffee in a Newtown Linford cafe . As we walk through Bradgate Park we may hear the Red Deer stags roar if the rut has begun. Quick visit to Old John for the well know views .
Lunch in Swithland Woods or beyond depending on progress.
Skirt Cropston and Thurcaston , go under Great Central Way ,steam train not timetabled for that day but you never know .Cross the golf course to Rothley. Pub close to bus stop.
Arrive Rothley between 4pm and 4:30pm .3 buses an hour back to St Margaret’s or maybe quicker to alight Orchard Street stop on Belgrave Gate to walk to Haymarket Bus Station.
