The walk begins from the Grandtully Forestry & Land Scotland car park, which is a short drive up a forest track off the B898 between Grandtully and Balnaguard. The route follows the track uphill through trees which are mostly native and deciduous with views back towards Farragon Hill. As the the summit cairns are reached the views are superb, taking in a wide swathe of Strath Tay. The present line of cairns was built in the 19th century, and they were constructed - like the nearby wall - using stone from an old hillfort, the remains of which can be viewed a short distance from the summit. We shall return to the start by retracing our steps. To visit nearby Balnaguard Glen we drive a short distance east to a parking area from which a delightful path which leads through the trees to reach the lower falls of the Balnaguard Burn. Again we retrace your steps to the start.
