(Please note the parking charge – details below). Starting at Chasewater Country Park we will head along the West shore of the reservoir, then onto Norton Bog. There is a high likelihood of spotting the local deer. We will cross Sevens Road then over towards Gentleshaw Common. There are a couple of steep but short climbs as we head towards Castle Ring, which is our lunch stop. For those who haven’t seen the ancient monument of Castle Ring, there is an opportunity to walk around either the top of the rampart or the outside. This is also where our pub stop is, at Park Gate Inn. We then head back over Gentleshaw Common, and a slightly different route back to Norton Bog, where we will then complete the East shore of Chasewater. Dogs welcome, just to note there are a few stiles on the walk. There is also some livestock and wild deer, so they must be kept on a lead for much of the walk. Packed Lunch Required
Parking is at Chasewater Country Park and there is a charge of £3.50 per car for the whole day. I believe this is cash and card, but not on an app. You may wish to consider car sharing, where appropriate.
