Overview

A somewhat hilly walk offering a mix of fine, open views and woodland trails. We start atop the Chiltern escarpment, crossing a pasture before enjoying a broad vista of the Aylesbury Vale as we descend Shirburn Hill. After following a level path, we gradually ascend on the Oxfordshire Way to Christmas Common, crossing a road and walking in single file on a grass verge for about 150 yards to take a descending path through Shotridge and Blackmoor Woods. We then skirt the Wormsley estate on a gradually rising path to Lower Vicar's Farm, where we take an open path back up to Cowleaze Wood. Underfoot conditions should be generally good, but expect some still-muddy sections in woods. Bring refreshments for one stop.
