Circular walk from the A4 at Harrow Farm. Initially crossing the A4 and walking generally north and east to make our way towards, but not arriving at, Littlecote Park. In part the path is only navigable due to vegetation die back, but will allow great views to the south (weather permitting). The route here is very open and exposed to the prevailing wind. We take our morning refreshment in the appropriately named Cake Wood before re-crossing the A4 near Froxfield. Progress is then made via Stype Wood before arriving at Little Bedwyn and continue to make our way to Great Bedwyn, pausing for lunch at the canal lock. From here the route eventually turns north to Chisbury, returning to our vehicles alongside the A4.
The walk is restricted to 16 participants due to the limited car parking space available. Everyone should use the link below to register.
Refreshment breaks are without cover and likely to be exposed to the elements, participants should bring sufficient food / drink for the day.
The ground conditions are generally good, particularly when walking on the field paths and farm tracks. Inevitably there will be mud and soft ground, especially in the more wooded stretches and where the ground is susceptible to holding the abundant rain water. There will be short distances on typical (quiet?) country roads. Please equip yourselves for such conditions as are to be expected / experienced in January.
There are five (5) stiles of questionable design and standard. Livestock (horses and sheep) are likely to be present.
