Join us for a 12 mile hike around the perimeter of Winchester, to explore some of the lesser known outskirts of our great city.
The walk includes a long stretch of the famous Clarendon Way, and we will enjoy several different views across the City as we circumnavigate it. There are also some lovely riverside stretches to enjoy.
There will be a mixture of urban pavements and rural paths. As Winchester is on the South Downs, we can't avoid the hills, but climbs will be long and steady rather than short and sharp.
This is a picnic walk, so please bring drinks, snacks and lunch with you.
Toilet facilities are few and far between on this walk.
The route we are following was devised by Rambler Member Barbara Anderson as a project during the 2020 pandemic restrictions.
We will meet at the foot of the huge bronze statue of King Alfred, close to the bus station. Parking at Bar End park and ride is £3.50 all day.
