Leaving Marsden and the Standedge Visitor Centre a stiff climb on an ancient pack horse trail leads us to the Pennine & Oldham Ways on Standedge affording stunning views of the Castleshaw Valley. From Brun Clough Reservoir we take the Standedge Trail opening up views of Pule Hill & the Wessenden & Colne valleys as we descend into Marsden. A brief flirtation with the Colne Valley Circular Walk offers a close up view of the Butterly Reservoirs unique Grade 2 listed spillway and Bank Bottom Mill.
Given fair weather we should be rewarded with good distant views throughout.
Toilets only at Standedge Visitor Centre near the start point.
Standedge car park, Marsden Station Old Goods Yard, adjacent to NT information office.
