Walk Cambridge is an active walking club and social group, aimed at working age people living in Cambridge and the surrounding area.
Meet outside the front of the Tesco Extra at Bar Hill for an 11:10 departure, and an 8½-mile circular walk around the countryside to the south, taking in the smaller settlements of Lolworth, Boxworth, Knapwell, Childerley and Dry Drayton. We'll stop to eat our packed lunches part of the way round, then have a pub stop near the end at the Black Horse in Dry Drayton.
There are buses from Cambridge to Bar Hill, in particular there is a no. 5 which leaves Emmanuel Street (stop E4) at 10:30, and arrives at Bar Hill Tesco at 11:01. In the afternoon there are buses back to Cambridge every half hour. If you're arriving on the bus at 11:01, please make sure you already have your packed lunch with you, as there may not be time for you to go into Tesco to buy it.
Drivers should be able to find free parking along Gladeside, postcode CB23 8DY. This residential road skirts the outside of Tesco's car park, and after parking you should be able to just walk through one of the gaps in the hedge to reach Tesco. Do not park in Tesco's car park, as there is a time limit.
