Overview

We begin the walk following Polesden estate paths across Ranmore Common to reach the North Downs ridge, and then Denbies Hillside (National Trust). A pause here for the good views to the South, East and West. We then follow the North Downs Way, mostly along a gently descending route through Denbies Vineyard estate to Westhumble, for our pub at lunch stop. During the shorter afternoon walk we return via Beechy Wood,  a short section of Crabtree Lane, Chapelhill Wood and the Nursery Field.

There is one long, gradual ascent in the afternoon, otherwise a moderate, undulating walk. Field paths, open common and woodland.
