Embark on a 5.4-mile journey with a gentle 272ft ascent that promises fresh air and changing scenery. We begin in the National Trust Comer Woods car park, a popular spot for families and walkers.
Leaving the woods behind, the trail opens up to the Shropshire countryside fields, where around halfway through the walk we make our way to a quiet country road that leads us to a delightful highlight: The Cider House pub, an ideal spot for a refreshing lunch break. You can enjoy a glass of their famous cider, or other cold drinks, the pub does not serve hot drinks. They also serve a range of baps, scotch eggs and snacks so eating your packed lunch on the premises is not allowed, but you can in the garden.
Reenergised, we embark on the return leg of our circular route crossing a small river and then the final stretch takes us back into the heart of Comer Woods via some pools, guiding us back to our starting point.
This walk is perfect for anyone seeking an invigorating walk with a blend of woodlands, open countryside, and a friendly pub stop. At 5.5 miles it is a good starter walk or for those who would like a walk that doesn’t take up too much time on a Sunday.
