Overview

A shorter walk along exposed tracks with extended views. Moderate rating due to ascent involved. Starts at Compton recreation ground (free car park) and passes Telegraph Hill, Bevis's Thumb, Fernbeds Down, Handle Down and Up Marden. 09:30 start to tie in with No 54 bus service from Chichester.

Main ascent is at the start, then undulating but fairly level. Virtually no roadside walking. Few obstructions - no stiles and a couple of gates. Coffee stop only (ie no lunch stop). Light lunches/refreshments available at Compton Tea Rooms (Open 9am-3pm). Paths not particularly muddy or slippery - just a couple of minor detours required.
