Overview

Travel, We will meet at Morrisons Car Park, Stevenston at 9am and thereafter we can arrange to car share and drive to Balmaha.

I suggest heading over the Erskine Bridge and following the A82 through Dumbarton and onto the Stoneymollan roundabout and then heading east through Balloch and Gartocharn on A811 leaving the main road to enter Drymen and then turning left onto the B837 to arrive in Balmaha. Parking at the main tourist car park

NB this car park charges a fee and uses "RingGo" a phone app as a payment option.

The return distance between Stevenston and Balmaha is around 100 miles which works out at £30 per car and there is a parking charge of £3.30. Can walkers please let me know if they wish to join the walk and if they want to car share or go direct to the car park at Balmaha.

The walking route....we return to Milton of Buchanan out on the road we arrived on and head north from there to pick up the West Highland Way. Our route is an easy-to-follow rising path that takes us close to the summit before dropping down to arrive back in the car par

Risk Assessment

The 1st leg of the walk back to Milton of Buchanan is alongside a fairly busy road and the pavement is narrow and overgrown in places so care is needed and some parts require walking in single file.

Some parts of the path are quite steep and there are areas of rubble and loose stones on the way off the summit. Any one who uses poles should bring them for this walk.
