Sorry for the late notice, but what better way to start a crisp and frosty weekend, forecast with sunshine?
Starting from the car park we head to the Coombe Hill Monument, then circle anti clockwise to climb the nose of the hill. We then head off along the Ridgeway Trail to Buckmoorend Farm Shop where we have opportunity to purchase hot drinks and food and use the portaloo...hopefully not frozen up. With our energy replenished we circle around Chequers and through the boxwood forest before immediately climbing the steepest route up Beacon Hill (or you can leisurely walk around it if you prefer). Down to Ellesborough Church and across the big frosty field before climbing steeply back up Coombe Hill (or you can take a longer more gradual route if you prefer).
Brisk pace.
Well behaved and managed dogs allowed.

Please come prepared with grippy footware (but not constricting or you will get cold feet) and poles if you are used to using them. Gloves, scarf and hat recommended but we will get warm walking so probably best not to over-dress. (Forecast at Thursday evening is cold with sunshine and clouds but little wind chill.) You need to be accustomed to and have the required fitness for steep hill-walking on uneven terrain.
