Overview

This is a pleasant walk from Coulter, just over the bridge at Nisbet turnoff (The same start place we use for Shaw Hill) The track opposite the car park  follows a gradual slope up to the Mast, where the views open out across to the Clyde. We head downhill via Unthank Farm, and across the main road to Nether Hangingshaw. From there the route is level along estate tracks between arable fields, towards Coulter Mains and along the back of Coulter village to Coulter Mill.

We complete the circle via the Mill Lade path, another pleasant meander along Coulter Water back to the cars.

It's what Biggar Ramblers would call a Grade C walk. We’ll probably take about 3.5-4 hours (includes a coffee break).

Drive south on the A702 from Biggar to Coulter. Take the road to Coulter reservoir, straight on - off the tight right hand bend before the bridge. Follow the road past the School and the turn off for the Village Hall until the road divides just over the metal bridge. The layby is just on the left at the start of the road to Nisbet.
