This walk highlights the industry of the area from the 1800s. From the start it leads to Lower Cwm and follows the route of an old tram road heading up the valley. It then climbs through Cwmynyscoy Local Nature Reserve and Quarries, to reach Penyrheol. The route is then on grassy and stony tracks, with a gradual climb, before descending to Cwm Lickey Pond. The next section is via an incline to Upper Race, following the route of an old rail track, to the Glyn Pits site where there are still buildings standing that contain the beam and winding engines with their shafts and ventilation gear. The walk then descends to Old Furnace, finally following the main road back to the start.
