This walk enjoys the views and flavour of the Long mynd without climbing up onto the plateau. It should be relatively mud free, well drained and sheltered from the prevailing westerly winds.
We walk on a good path from Cardingmill Valley climbing gently eastwards up to the golf course, and follow the path across the course avoiding any errant balls! (I believe there is a bell to ring to warn of our approach). That is the highest part of our walk.
We then drop down to Cwmdale, a glacial overflow channel, and continue contouring around into The Batch valley .
Crossing the stream there, we will continue working our way to Castle Hill above All Stretton (who knew All Stretton had a castle?) and back following good and generally fairly level paths to Church Stretton and Cardingmill valley.
