Join the CYW as we venture to a city we haven't visited in ages - Oxford!
This is one of two events happening in Oxford on this day, please see the social event here for more details.
Starting at Oxford train station where there are numerous links to nearby towns and cities, we'll set off north along the Thames path towards the top end of Port Meadow, passing Fiddler's island and the remains of Godstow Abbey.
Here we'll stop to admire the picturesque Trout Inn, famous for its views over the Thames and the Meadow, as well as its roving peacocks! We'll stop for lunch at the picnic area here too, where there are also public toilets.
After this, we'll cut across Port Meadow back towards the city, cutting through historical Jericho where we might stop for a swift drink at one of its quirky pubs before passing through the centre to admire numerous colleges, libraries and other historical buildings.
We'll head through the University parks and pick up our second riverside walk of the day, the River Cherwell. Here we'll head through Great Meadow and around the cathedral gardens before making our way back to the centre.
Please sign up on our meetup event linked below if possible, so we know you're coming.
Please bring a packed lunch, sturdy footwear (trainers fine) and dress for the weather.
You're very welcome to join us for the social in the evening too, but please check the description of this event as priority is given to Ramblers members for the Junkyard golf bit.
Oxford train station can be reached by both train and bus from the direction of London/High Wycombe, Bicester, Didcot and Marlow. Please check the train times and ensure you arrive before midday.
For those who live in Aylesbury, the 280 bus runs every 30 mins from Aylesbury bus station, and more frequently from Thame.
The most useful park and rides are likely to be Thornhill (East of Oxford) and Oxford Parkway or Peartree (north).
