Overview

Approx 13 miles from Inverness on the A9 S park at the Dalmagarry layby (not visible from the road) on the RHS of the road adjacent to the railway, opposite Dalmagarry farm, before the Tomatin turn off.  The route commences underneath a rlwy bridge with a burn crossing close by followed by a steady ascent to our first bothy for morning coffee.   Continue on a more gentle ascent by Carn nam Bo-airigh with the Farr wind farm visible and good views of the Cairngorms and Moray Firth.  Beyond is Carn na h-Easgainn with its trig point and our second bothy for lunch.  Retrace footsteps to the junction close to Carn Moraig descending steeply south past a very impressive, but sadly locked bothy.  We continue crossing a burn and on to our third bothy for afternoon tea, by Carn a Bothain.  Over the last few miles we continue east past Tomatin distillery, crossing a final burn and a gentle ascent returning to start point.  All on open hill, moor and good track. Opportunity for eagle and deer spotting.
