Overview

This walk will take us through the mine workings below Bennett's cross and up to the summit of Shipley Tor for views across large parts of Dartmoor. Next, we descend to Natsworthy Gate and enjoy another highlight of this walk through Hethercombe woods, where a large variety of tree species are seen reflecting the planting preferences of previous owners. We then follow the Mariners Way to Lower Shapley via a number of ancient farms and then back onto the open moor, passing the well-preserved stone row on Chagford common, before returning to our starting point.
