Overview

The walk is a leisurely 5 miles from Deep Hayes Country Park.

Leaving the car park we follow the canal path to the flint mill in Cheddleton where we head to St Edward’s along Wall Lane Terrace and West Drive.

We exit the grounds of the former St Edward’s Hospital onto Villa Drive. Taking the path on our left we cross the disused railway track to cross the bridge over the River Churnet.

Picking up the tow path on the Leek branch of the Cauldon Canal takes us to Hazelhurst Aqueduct, descending the steps lead to the Cauldon Canal and back to Deep Hayes.
