Prepare for a moderate-paced 4.5-hour journey, including a lunch break, as we embark on a delightful circular route encompassing both Derwent and Howden Reservoirs. At the halfway point, we'll find a picturesque old packhorse bridge, perfect for our lunch stop and a chance to soak in the beauty of the surroundings. The landscape is truly stunning, and most of the route follows well-made paths and lanes. In times of heavy rain and overflowing dams, the scenery becomes even more dramatic.
Let's meet at 10:45 am for an 11:00 am prompt start.
Restroom facilities are available at the visitor centre, where we'll begin our lovely circular walk. You'll also find a shop offering snacks and drinks for your convenience.
We warmly welcome dogs on this walk, but kindly request that any dogs be on leads.
This captivating walk takes place in Derbyshire, within the enchanting Peak District. We'll start and finish at Fairholmes Visitor Centre, which offers a small shop, a takeaway café, and clean toilets. You can find free parking in laybys along the lane leading to Fairholmes, or opt for the designated car park at the Visitor Information Centre for a fee of £5 for the whole day. Both cash and card payments, including contactless, are accepted.
Despite its fair length, the terrain is relatively flat and gentle, with only a short section of uneven ground. So, lace up your walking shoes and get ready to immerse yourself in the natural wonders of this breathtaking area.
