Dothill is a green oasis on the outskirts of Wellington, easily accessed from the old village of Admaston and the new community of Shawbirch. This is a springtime morning walk that explores the many paths through this small Local Nature reserve with meadows, woods, streams and lakes and in April it should be alive with breeding birds and emerging greenery. The walk also takes in part of The Silkin Way between Bratton and Admaston, the Admaston Coronation Walk and the Dothill 50 Trees Nature Trail, with examples of most of our native trees, plus a few exotic ones. It is a mainly level walk, on good, surfaced paths though there are some woodland paths which can be muddy at times, depending on the prevailing weather conditions. Please bring a drink and a snack to consume at a break point during the walk, but there is no need to bring a packed lunch as there will bean optional social get together at the pub afterwards for a chat over food and / or a hot or cold drink. Non members are welcome.
The walk starts and ends at The Woolpack PH. There is a large customer car park and also a free to use community car park that serves the small local centre opposite. The pub serves a large range of hot and cold meals and snacks plus teas and coffees as well as alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Dogs on leads are allowed with prior permission of the walk leader, please let us know if you want to bring your dog and read the dogs policy on our website if you are a new walker. Please let the leader know if you want to pre-order food.
